Aims of this Course/What to Expect

I always find learning is best when we really understand why we are learning, and what we are aiming for.

So when I produced this course, I had some clear aims in mind for what people would learn and develop from taking part.

Four Aims and Objectives

  1. Understand the key concepts in sketching people, such as perspective, proportion and colour mixing.

  2. Recognise the limitations of these rules, and the value of observation and confident line making in capturing people effectively.

  3. Learn to recognise what you see, not what you think you see, and how this impacts your sketching of people.

  4. Be confident to share your art with others, through sharing in the 'Sketch Loose' community

What this course is not...

This is not a course where I am going to show you how to draw hyper realistic portraits or capture a perfect likeness. In reality, this takes many many hours and is outside the definition of 'sketching'.

What you will gain is the ability to start this journey towards realism, if you wish, by capturing the essence of a person quickly, effectively and without stress.
