About the Course and What is Included

This course is made up of 7 workshops, plus a few extra ‘interludes’ along the way. Each workshop tackles an important area of sketching for a loose style like mine. Each workshop specifically builds on the previous workshops, adding ideas and techniques as we progress together. From advanced ink hatching, to wet-on-wet watercolours.

Inside each workshop you’ll find sections on core concepts, then at least two sketching studies to help you explore the ideas, before ending with a challenge that ties it all together. Together, there are over 35 videos totalling over 9 hours of videos evenly split between workshops.

The final workshop is a little different, it’s all about challenges, and each video there includes a bit of background, maybe a quick study, and then something for you to try.

Then, of course, there are the interludes. Extra sketching videos, exclusive to the course, which approach something in a slightly different or experimental way.

It's not just videos though!

Under each video, you’ll find plenty of extra information: key points from the lesson, extra examples, and a bit more detail on some of the ideas we cover. I’ve done this so you can come back to each workshop and really absorb the learning at your own pace.

Feedback is vital

As part of the course, you can post questions, share your art and comment on each others art. I check in on the course multiple times a week to make sure I'm responding to everyone. If you feel I've missed a comment or question of yours, please post it again so I get a little alert!

A key tip from your fellow sketchers

One tip: the people who got the most from the course said they found it helpful to watch each video first, then take on the task, scene or challenge themselves. That way, you’re not just copying, you’re actually practicing how to think like a sketcher.

Take your time with it, don’t rush through, and enjoy the process. That’s where the real progress happens.
